Biography

Jay Abramson received a Master’s degree in Mathematics from the University of New Hampshire. Prior to arriving at ASU, Jay taught at community colleges and served as Chair of Midlands Technical College in Columbia, SC. Jay was the recipient of Teacher of the Year Awards at Texas State Technical College and Amarillo College. He has been teaching at ASU since 1998. He enjoys teaching pre-calculus, calculus for engineering, mathematics/science and business majors. Jay has been active in developing and teaching videos to accompany several courses, including Calculus for Engineers, Calculus for Business Majors and Linear Algebra. He is the recipient of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Distinguished Teaching Award for Lecturers, and the School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences Award for Outstanding Instruction and Service. He has authored four textbooks. He had developed instructional math videos for MAT 210, 211 (Business Calculus 1 and 2) 117 (College Algebra), 265, 266 (Engineering Calculus 1 and 2) and 242 (Linear Algebra).
