Press Release

Access Alliance for Education releases a series of video eBooks and courses from leading OER author Jay Abramson

Targeting today’s video-centric students and organized around learning objectives, these video eBooks and courses cover all topics in any College Algebra, Algebra and Trigonometry and Precalculus course.

August 12, 2019 – In partnership with author Jay Abramson, Access Alliance for Education, a coursework accelerator, has released a series of math eBooks and courses entitled:

  • College Algebra
  • Algebra and Trigonometry
  • Precalculus
  • Precalculus with Co-requisites

Each video eBook/course is entirely available to students on video. They are designed to be all-inclusive, with complete coverage for all of the topics that a student could possibly cover in each course. These video eBooks could lead a standalone course or be a complement to any existing course with a textbook.

Each video eBook/course features two types of videos: lecture videos and example videos. The course is Learning Objective (LO) driven as each video addresses a specific learning objective. Laid out by an easy to follow Chapter, Section, and Learning Objective format, each video covers a particular learning objective. By using the Learning Objectives (LO), this video course can be aligned with all course-appropriate textbooks as a reading resource. Just navigate to what learning objective you are searching for and watch. It is that simple.

The 302 lecture videos are unique, with Jay Abramson, Principal Lecturer at Arizona State University and 38 years in teaching, presenting a lecture to two students who are actively asking and answering questions, just as one would experience in any classroom. The lecture videos are direct; they cover the concepts and examples found in the learning objective addressed.

The 450 example videos are clearly presented. The example videos feature typical examples you would encounter in a rigorous course. The example videos are short and straightforward, deliberately intended to address the essence of the targeted learning objective.

“With 38 years in the classroom, I have learned to listen to students. They tell me they are struggling in math. I thought wouldn’t it be great if a student had a complete library of videos covering every topic and learning objective in their course available anytime?” said Jay Abramson, author of the series. “My goal at the onset of this project was simple: Make math engaging, enjoyable and rigorous. In this digital age, students enjoy learning from videos. I wanted a course where students could learn by watching and following along.”

“We feel a video eBook is an upgrade to the traditional eBook. It replaces the text-heavy PDFs with videos that educate the audience on specific topics. Video eBooks are a more interactive way to share content and engage with your students on a personal level,” adds Dan Linville, Partner and Executive Vice President of Access Alliance for Education. “These lecture and example videos have the student in mind at all times by providing complete topic appropriate support for all of the subjects that one could possibly cover in any precalculus, college algebra or algebra and trigonometry course at the high school, test preparation, community college, or university level.”

“Our partnership with Jay and other outstanding instructors like him, is exactly why Dan and I founded Access Alliance for Education”, adds John Hillsman, Partner and CEO. “Access Alliance for Education is a coursework accelerator. We work with instructors, departments and institutions to help accelerate the learning process by partnering with unique, value-focused, content, resource and solution providers.”

The value focused suggested retail subscription pricing for each Video eBook or course is $25.00 annually except for Precalculus with Co-Requisites @ $29.00.
