Biography

Eric Segovis is a Testing, Dual Credit and Advanced Placement Coordinator with Forney Independent School District in Forney, Texas. Eldest son of a military family, he was born in Wuerzburg, Germany and lived in cities throughout the United States while growing up. Segovis earned degrees from Ouachita Baptist University in Secondary Education and Social Studies as a member of the class of 2006. He spent several years working for the Boy Scouts of America, responsible for coordinating fundraisers, applying for grants, increasing membership and implementing training programs for members of the movement throughout southwest Arkansas and eastern Oklahoma.

Segovis spent three years working as the Training Coordinator for Books-A-Million, Inc, traveling around the country to train employees in sales, management and operations. He also redesigned the company’s online training courses, which were launched and run through an early Learning Management software. This experience was thoroughly leveraged as he moved into public education in 2013, working first as a classroom teacher of Audio/Video Production and Business Information Management at the High School level, then originating the district’s Computer Science Program.

While earning a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas at Tyler (2018), Segovis served as the inaugural coordinator of an experimental new high school program which aimed to bring the voices of students into school district administrative decisions. His students have presented at state school board conferences and have been hired as educational aides, substitute teachers, curriculum designers and school bus mechanics as a result of their work in this new type of program.

Segovis currently works as a Testing Coordinator, English Language Learners Coordinator, Advanced Placement Liaison, and Dual Credit Coordinator working with Forney Independent School district and the Dallas County Community College District in Forney, Texas, where he lives with his wife and two children.
